A big machine that I think stamps out blade blanks

Most of the production is kitchen knives for the likes of Waitrose and John Lewis. This is some of the steel I forget the grade but stainless and notice the tapered profile to reduce grinding. French steel, apparently Sheffield does not make the tapered profile.

One of the many die things for fitting to the big machines for stamping out blade blanks.

A pile of blanks, the folk were not working for H&S reasons when we went through but on our way out I noticed a chap banging blades out about one every 2 seconds.

Lots of CNC grinding machines

pop a blade blank on here, it slides in and out again and is ground.

In this shot you can just see the stone, the grinding is done on the side of the stone. These machines are very efficient, the chap doing scissor blades told me he does 82 dozen pairs of blades a day.

Then it was next door to Brian the grinder, another lovely chap, for old bike nuts his last was a vincent black shadow though he is more into boats nowadays. Not sure who the blond roll up smoker is I don't remember her being with us any ideas?
