View Full Version : Hello, from the Pine Barrens of New Jersey
Hi all, though the roots of my family are English I’m a native of New Jersey in the states. I live in a very unique area in South Jersey, the Pine Barrens. This is + or minus 1 million acres of pine forests that is primarily state parks, game lands and public land. It is very sparsely populated and has deer, turkey, beaver, rattlesnakes, etc.
I’m also a certified knife nut and make most of my own knives that are used in the woods. Here is a picture of two I just finished. The small one is 12” over all and the large is 14”. They were made from a Jeep leaf spring. The handles were made from a baseball bat.
I’m looking forward to this forum.

Fans of the Soprano's will remember the Pine Barrens is where the Russian nutters were chased down. Only this was not possible when you consider the size of the trees in the shots. Slight continuity error that... :D
Nice place and nice knives! ;)

Welcome to the forum :sign16:
Nice knives. They look well balanced and I should imagine feel great in the hand.
That sure was a great welcome, thanks so much. Some great work is being done in Britain and I’m sure I will learn much more than I will be able to contribute.
Also, thanks for the complements on my knives. Nothing I make is a museum piece, by any means; I make them to be used hard and relied on in the woods. The few I've sold were just to supplement my material costs, but I give most of them away to family, friends and of course I use them.
Welcome to the forum, like the knives, re-claimed materials are a good way to make knives on a budget.
nice one Piney.
Cheers,
Graham
Welcome to this funny farm, have fun!

As Nikki someone or other said, "Just DO IT! Make a knife today!"
