forge welding stainless for damascus billet

Hi guys

Is it difficult to weld stainless to carbon steel in a billet? im looking at 303 stainless , anyone know anything abou it?

Never tried it myself..But my understanding is that a reduced atmosphere would help.........


Heat treatment may also be interesting.
