kydex press: steel thickness

Hi

I'm making a kydex press and gona use wood for the bottom, plastafoam inbetween, and metal sheet ontop.

Whats the tensile strenght of mild steel like? whats the thinest steel i could use for the top of the press? 3mm, 5mm?? I just dont have the expreicence.

just use wood for the top too.its easy and works fine.
