I've got most of my stuff together for my mill but I still haven't designed the mechanism for raising and lowering the unpowered lower roller.
Any suggestions are welcome. :?:

What sort of size are we talking about?

Diameter 2.5" rolls about 8" long, driven by a 1500 rpm 1.5HP motor geared down to 60 rpm.

would having it fixed by two uprights onto an 'L' shaped lever so that the bottom roller moves through an arc as you lever it up and down work?

I found that a coarse screw and a large nut with handles works really well for a quick adjustment for the lower roller. Acme or square threads would work too.
I have a few pictures of my mill at http://www.polarbearforge.com/rolling_mill.htm
I built it based on Hugh McDonalds' plans.

I knew I'd find a use for my small flypress! :)
