View Full Version : grace's scandi handled kukri slippy
well, it needs some scales, but it's working, and the blade and mechanism are working a treat. The rather lovely pattern is entirely accidental, and a result of me getting the steel a bit too hot and oil quenching, as i'm sure you know. But it seems to be hard, so i think I got away with it. the action is unexpectedly smooth, but i can't stop fiddling, so I doubt it will be in an hour or so :D
I have some nice purpleheart for the scales
It's a scandi handled khukri folder? :rolleyes:
awful preliminary pics;

DAMMIT
just snapped the spring trying to make it bear down on the blade a bit more
off down town to buy a new cutting disk.:mad:
BOLL*****
just realized I bought a stone grinding disc instead of a metal disk, and now the shops are closed
Looks like that's me stuck inside for tonight...
Just a suggestion Alfie I'm no expert but your spring rivets look a long way back. You could do with another one about where your ring finger is in the last picture to give you a bit more snap

That's looking really great (apart from the snapped spring :C ) Looking forwards to seeing it finished.

got it finished,a nd started shaping the scales, but I seem to be plagued with bad luck on this knife. I took a huge chip out of the purpleheart scale by the pivot pin, and it was my last bit of purpleheart tht fits the liners and blade.
d'oh
here's some pics anyways

I have some outer trimmings from a purpleheart log, from which you should easily be able to get one or more scales. Drop me a PM with your address if you need a piece.
