Just found this site while I couldn't sleep and have been reading for about an hour now. :C
Had to sign up just so as I can be sure it isn't all a dream. :)

Welcome to a forum that has proved quite interesting to me so far. Oh, and you don't have to show the wife every knife you buy!

Welcome on board. Surrender your wallet at the gate. Practice saying this to the missus: "What? That old thing? I've had it for years!"

I love Edinburgh. I was there a few weeks ago. In fact, the missus and I tagged onto the end of the "Save Scotland's regiments" march! Anyone who has footage of it can spot us right at the tail end as the procession crosses Waverley Bridge.

I might even have seen Ross...

"Ay, fight and you may die, run and you'll live. At least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom. "

"The Galashiels crest can be seen on the North West facade of the municipal buildings, and shows a fox trying to reach plums hanging on a tree, with the motto "Sour Plums". This commemorates a Border foray of 1337, when some English soldiers were caught while picking wild plums, resulting in them being killed. "

Seems fair :O

Hi Ross, I'm from Leith originally (just up from the links) but now stay out at the Inch. Mirage I might well of seen you as I was in town that day and saw the whole of the march.

Ah yes, spend many a night (and a bit of money) drinking down at the shore. In fact I used to live next door to the owner of Holmes bar. In my defence I have never been stopped by the police for anything, not even speeding! :-)

"...as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself."

The Declaration of Arbroath, 1320 A.D.
