This little drop point hunter is forged from W2 roundstock.

It was then Clay hardened with a hand rubbed finish applied.

The forward section of the guard was forged using 1 1/4" WI. A 2 inch section was cut off the roundstock, heated to 2100 and cleaved down the center about half way through the piece. The piece was then reheated and pressed causing the cleaved sections too flare out and then down resulting in the distortion that shows in the etched guard.
The back section of the guard was straight cut with out pressing.

The butt cap was also upset.

The stag was a gift from a good friend. Thank you.

The knife is just under 7 inches.

Thank you for the kind words.

I delivered this knife to the people at the local vol. fire dept this evening at their appreciation dinner.

They will raffle it off at this springs fireman's festival.

This is the fifth year for me to donate a knife to this worthy cause.

I am a bit old to be riding the fire trucks and this is a way for me to contribute to a great organization.8)

Fred, I feel ya. I give away a knife or 2 every year at our Para gatherings. It makes me feel better about someone else humping my rucksack.

Cool! I love wrought iron for fittings. You got some really nice patterns in it. I don't think I've ever used any with an end-on orientation.

That's really excellent - a new material with a lovely new texture.

I still don't understand how it was done, please explain again?
