This is a Norwegian type of knife about 20cm long with sheath. Without sheath it is 18cm with a 7 cm blade. The handle is Curly Birch (valbjørk) with a very nice pattern. It has been treated with Danish Oil and PPT (buffing). The blade is hand made laminated with three layers made by Steen Nielsen of Kristiansand.

The sheath is from shaff leather. It is colored red and black and treated with Gold Quality Leather grease (danish product).

Where did you get it.

The handle looks a little out of proportion in relation to the blade though, is this a trick of the camera.?

I like the shape... looks like a fish.
I see a place for a sharp hard use knife with a full size handle, often blades are too big or handles too small making them either unwieldly or tiring to use.

Mmmmm...I like full size handles on small blades (I find my hands don't shrink with blade size :P)

Thats what i thought!

where did you get the birch. I am coing to stavanger to teach next weekend ( 25th -27th) so if it is somewhere local to Town i may be tempted....
