I guess that's a Teddy Bear hunt?
Watch his little face as, when you find one, you whip out the Moran and slice it up! Yeahhh, die Yogi, slash slash slash...

"We're going on a bear hunt" is a great kids book by Michael Rosen & Helen Oxenbury

Alex does know that there are no bears in our woods but he goes through the pretence to amuse his father :D

No bears but lots of yummy blackberries instead

In the next couple of weeks I'm going sailing/fishing in a 41.5 ft boat. It will be for a couple of days. I'm thinking really hard what knife to take and how to look after it! :banghead:

It ain't gona be the Benza though! :crying:

I was thinking, CRKT Seahawk and a sturdy, but cheap fixed blade like my Ka Bar Marine knife. Needless to say I will take my little bottle of oil and a cloth along. Lanyard on the Seahawk of course... :biggthump

Can't wait for the obligitory do you have a knife question... :biggthump :approve: :bandit:

Quite! :biggthump

I figured the Seahawk would be ideal for rope and the Ka Bar, which is razor sharp will do for anything else! :approve:

I personly will be happy with the above and a SAK! :thanks:

the edge on the K-Bar will rust like a b*****d if you dont watch it

Wayne - you big girls party dress (I know I have said this already ready but I just thought I would heap some more misery on Waynes shoulders :D )

Colin - have you got "Room on the Broom" and the other books by Julia Donaldson & Axel Scheffler? flippin excellent, far too good for kids a lot of it.

Even better is one by Colin McNaughton, I think its called "Oops" and it was most certainly written for adults as most of the jokes go straight over kids heads. The first time I read it I nearly wet myself with laughing.

Don't know about the "Room on the Broom" But the Colin McNaughton ones are fine books, there's some great stuff in them (so the parents don't get bored I s'pose;) )

Colin - you have to get Room on the broom and the Gruffalo both written by Julia Donaldson & illustrated by Alex Sheffler, simply superb.

Wait a minute , Roger said "Mayo thingy ", A TNT ?? Oh my ! Come on Roger , what's a TNT like in the metal ? Now the price has gone through the roof I do not expect to be owning one of these ever , but I can still dream .

Reckon the nearest I'm likely to get is a Buck Mayo , but I 'm still unsure of the quality of these . Colin Cooper has one for sale and I might get a look at it in a few weeks time at the Birmingham militaria collectors show . He's just bought not one but two Scott Cook Lochsa's , greedy devil . Hope to check one of these out too , but to admire only , he's not selling these he say's .
Too many nice knives out there , too few pennies in the piggy bank.
Paul. :)

This Mayo has an even more solid lock than a TNT .......

http://www.vikingdesign.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/knives/Mayo2.jpg

I don't own a TNT, my 'Mayo Thingy' is this Talonite hunter with Brazilian Kingwood handle. I bought it a couple of years ago when you could just e-mail or phone Tom and ask him to make a knife for you :D I think this one took three weeks from initial contact to delivery.

Trouble is, I don't even use the knife now, I just look at it.....

This just goes to show the need for a get together by the BB mob ,
there are some really pieces out there that need to be seen and appreciated . Not easy to sort , but I reckon it will be worth it if we can .

My chum Ed has a gorgious D Ralph in Talonite, however I do have reservations about the dendric cobalt materials. They would never pass my rigourus testing procedure... ;) I think we all know what i'm refering to! :p

Very nice, MUCH better than the Buck Mayo, although that should be expected.

Perhaps not worth the $800+ they command on the secondary market IMO. But well worth the $400-$500 from Tom Mayo direct.

I read somewhere that Scott Cook is going to be making a small Lochsa

Yes, Scott should have the first Small Lochsa's out this year. No idea about lefties. You could ask him: scott@scottcookknives.com

Just got this from Scott

"Hello Harvey,

Yes, at some point I will be making a smaller version Lochsa folder. Blade
length will be just under 3" and I plan on a left hand model as well. If
you would like to be placed on a contact list when I start taking orders for
the small, let me know. I can do the same for the left hand version. It's
not an official order, just interested customers I'll contact first when I
come out with or start to except orders.

Thanks for your interest,

Scott"

Hey, this was a 'down to the woods' type of thread and now it's been hijacked by bendy-knife fanatics, some of them cack-handed at that :D

Harvey, get yourself a Mayo, the man knows how to put together a nice knife, even if some of them are full of holes.... ;)
