That's very nice... I've got some rather nice seasnake that will be making an appearance here ere too long ;)

Wish we had rattlers here though - then I might stand a chance of getting some skins off them!

The skin on that sheath is from a Eastern Diamond Backed Rattlesnake…. I’ve got an adult pair in a cage in the next room :D

No your NOT having their skins Peter!  :)

Strangely, I didn't think you'd be keen on that idea. :)

But if any go through old age, or - for example - a particularly dodgy mouse...? :biggthump

PS - want to buy some mice?

I will save you a skin next time we have a old Rattler die, you will have to cure it yourself though.

Hi Dave,

I care for Britain’s largest venomous snake collection, (which houses 300 plus snakes of about 45 different species), I am the UK’s only licensed venom extractor and my main task is to care for the snakes and provide venom for or research Labs..

Living in Florida, I’m sure you will know of the legionary “Bill Haast” from the Miami Serpentarium and therefore have an idea what my work entails. I met Bill about 4 years ago when he was 94… as far as I know he is still going strong. Another person of note in Florida is George Van Horn from the Reptile World Serpentarium in St. Cloud.

So now you know why there are rattlers and a whole host of other snakes in our various holding rooms. :D

Regards, Paul

Paul, thats very cool. When you stated you had two Diamondbacks,I told my wife I thought you might be a herpatologist.I had no idea you had so many, I am totally impressed.I have been to both Serpentariums and met Mr. Haast back when I was kid (many years ago :D ).I live about an hour from St.Cloud.I like snakes alot and had a small boa when I lived in the Bahamas. My wife isn't too keen on snakes(big understatement  ) so I am not allowed anything but skins now.Keep up the great work you are doing.Dave :D

Dave, my friend---that is a very nice sheath. I'll bet that old "rattley" had no idea he would be seen by all our friends in the UK. I am going to try to be more active in the BB forums. ---Sandy Morrissey
