As Title, are there any readily available (304,316?) stainless steels that can be used for the spring on a Slippy or does it have to be something more exotic?! :O

I use 440C, the 300 series stainless steels are too soft and will bend but not spring back.

Thanks Shing, is 440C available over here or is it an import job?

Vic.

any 440 would probably do fine...even 420.

I got some 440C in 1/8 if you want to try some, just PM me. I get mine from Crusteel in Sheffield but they might not carry it anymore due to financial difficulties.

I also have plenty of 420 in 3mm if you want some of that as well.

Thanks for the very kind offer Shing, I may take you up on that if I can't get any 5/32 or 4mm. :)
