Hi all!

Just thought I would show you my newly acquired Paul Baker Bushman Graduate.

http://www.esox.co.uk/PaulBaker-BushmanGraduate.jpg

It's a really nice knife and moves about in my overly large right hand with ease, and will allow me to do intricate little cuts with ease - I'm a pro pike fishing guide. The knife should be a good all-rounder for me.

The oak handle was stained dark brown when I received it, but being really keen on the natural wood look, I removed the stain. I have simply polished it, using furniture polish, to give the oak handle a nice sheen finish - sorry Paul!!!

Like the knife, the sheath is also well made.

For the money that I paid for it (won it on eBay), I am really pleased with Paul's workmanship.

A nice knife to add to the collection!

I played around with a couple of Paul's knives and was very impressed with his workmanship and the way the knife held an edge.

I don't know why you don't see more oak handles. I like the look of the slabs on yours.

I see you are a collector - Ive not long started collecting.

I dare say you have been asked this before, but what are your 5 favourite knives?

Personally, I love quality knives with wooden handles.

DanzoI'm no knife reviewer Danzo. I just know what I like the look of - and will buy it if I can afford it!

I guess I have a lot to learn about the steel used to make knives, blade grinds, slabs and so on - I've probably even got terminology wrong already

Is there a link somebody could give me for knife terminology?

As you will see, I'm new to this forum.

This is what Paul had to say about the knife that I purchased:-

"Bushcraft knife. Bushman New Graduate, Hand made by Paul Baker of BushmanUK. Full tang, 01 tool steel. Satin finish. Oak handle. Length overall 22 cm. Blade length 11 cm. Thickness 3.4 mm. The blade has a flat ground razor edge. Supplied in a hand stitched leather sheath with fire steel holder. A new ‘off the shelf’ hand made knife, based on my popular Bushman.tz."

I hope that is of help to you.

Knife reviewing is a bit like riding a horse, pikesox. Nobody is a rider until they've been on a horse once!

:D

But once you've done it once, you realise that most of the time the horse does all the work, you're just along for the ride!

I'm no knife reviewer if it's all about angles of grinds and RC hardness but I can describe what the knife is made of, looks like, feels like and handles like. And if I can do it anyone can.

So, come on, let's hear it! I promise you everyone is much more interested in the knife than any worries you may have about your writing.

Paul is a top bloke, i got him to make me a masamune style tanto as a present for my best man (damn, i'm far too generous) and he also made a knife for a friend of mine. both are excellent pieces.

Paul is a very helpful guy with lots of experiance, i just wish i had a bit more free time to learn a bit more from him.
