Well, I got some carnauba wax at the same time as the gum tragacanth.

The carnauba wax is in very hard, small flakes.

How to I apply this to a wooden handle?

Do I melt it first, on its own?
Do I melt or dissolve it in melted beeswax, or in heated linseed oil?

I'm not using a buffing wheel, just elbow grease for this, so I can't rely on friction to get enough heat to melt the carnauba wax.

I melted the flakes in a pan nested in boiling water. I poured the wax in a plastic bottle then. When the wax was solid I torn the "form" and had a nice piece of wax.

I am using drilling machine with some felt buffing disc. Not much speed though, but the friction is so so.

I was told the wax is soluabe in ether. There are some mixture receipes carnauba wax - beeswax - something. Try this link (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=273576)
