Anyone seen these?

http://cgi.ebay.com/RAY-MEARS-KNIFE-WILKINSON-SWORD-BUSHCRAFT-ANTLER-HANDLE_W0QQitemZ130346131913QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_ DefaultDomain_0?hash=item1e593c21c9

Looks like the final blades from Wilkinson being rehandled by who??
Very pricey but I have seen them with green micarta also advertised.

Not connected etc, etc.

i like the bit that says "some patina on blade", I think " shiny top above the deep rust pitting" would be more accurate. I wonder if it will sell at that price?

" Those few individuals that examine their Knives with a magnifing glass and a micrometer, and are expecting pristine condition are asked not to buy from us. "

At that sort of money I would expect something slightly more than he's offering.

So if I take a pristine example of a WS Woodlore and contract one of our skilled members to handle mine in sambar stag what price then ???

If he's making a working knife for working man's wages, then a patina is within reasonable expectations. He'd selling them at custom prices, though.

Looking at the blades and what this guy has sold in the past,I think he has bought a job lot of stuff from when wilkinsons closed and only now found these.I think they are seconds that were thrown into a box as imperfect and forgotten about.Probably the only chance to get a new one now.Just my thoughts.

"new" ? My users look better than that :D

Those stag scales are pretty beefy on that advertised one.

Ah well, free world and that all. Not for me.

It's the same knob who has been chucking out so called Dartmoors for the last 2 years. And if painstaking restoration means rubbing with some wirewool, then that top UK knifemaker deserves a pat on the back.

Similar sort of price (http://www.britishblades.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93122) but I know which I'd be spending my pennies on.

These people, who are little more than rip off artists IMO, really get my goat, they peddle sh*t on the pretext thats it's rarer than a rocking horse poo and charge the earth for you to have the privelidge to own a pice of something that actually isn't a real piece of history (although it does have it place in history but this false insertion annoys me)

Hmmm think I may have fell into rant mode then.

Is it just me or is the re handling very thick at the Ricasso? Was the original woodlore scales that thick at the Ricasso?

Nope. The micarta ones that I handled varied a bit, but Sterling Hair And Bushcraft supplies definately takes it to new levels :)

Might sell in the States, at the moment the 'new' bushcraft movement over there are all RM crazy, shipping bloody Zebra pots half way round the world etc.

I think you are wrong Rik. I live here and most have never heard of Mears. They LOVE Grylls though... unless they know what the hell is what - then they tend to love Mors and his Mora than Ray.

Wow, I've got a rusty old Wilkie Woodlore blank just like that (honestly) ...and I've got an original sheath to go with it come to think of it.

Mebbe time to get out the flitz and desert ironwood.

I'd never pay that much for a brand new piece of handled O1, let alone an old rusty one ;)

Is Sterling Supplies GB based? They migrated to ebay.com when the great knife 'crunch' happened. Only my opinion but I feel it is sad that a home-grown company does this. I wonder what 'Woodlore' think...they are a bit 'keen' on people not using Ray's name

The micarta one they have looks nice...but $895 plus $24.95 shipping - oww, oww, ouch. My last car was just a bit more than that  ...more money for knives see ;)
