I am about to re-do the taste test / review I did last night of this chilli sauce, on video.
Had dinner and allowed time for that to go down, and a small slurp of milk to line stomach.
DRAGON'S BLOOD BATCH 13
Ingredients in order from the label:
Capsicum
Vinegar
Apple
Pineapple
Bih Jolokia (dried)
Cayenne
Fresh stressed Naga pods
Tabasco Chilli
6.4 million scoville chilli extract
Sugar
12 million scoville chilli extract
15 million scoville CRYSTALISED chilli extract
1 full teaspoon of the sauce in a single go, no cracker, no cheese.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AY_thTjB4rY
Verdict:
Quite bitter in flavour and HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT!!! :zombie6: Not one I'd put on the side of the plate to dip chips in, but would add A TINY AMOUNT of it to recipes quite happily if I wanted to seriously "fire them up".

Why not build up to it gently. Perhaps something less risky first, like a rerun of your shaving video but without a mirror?

Well. That was less painful than expected going on the intestinal pain last night from chugging 2 pints of milk straight down so I could douse the fire and get to bed. The intestinal pain was definately indigestion from the milk.
About 15-20 minutes of "oh my god, I'm on fire" and drinking a pint of milk slowly, and I'm now feeling fine.
Still have tingly lips and a tingly tongue + hot feeling to back of throat, and a definate bit of an "I've been eating hot chilli" endorphin buzz, but it didn't last as long as I was expecting.
Will post the video as soon as it's processed with titles etc and uploaded to youtube.
Flavour of the sauce, as mentioned in the video - quite bitter, not as nice as the Dragon Slayer (which is more fruity), and lots of heat.

Could a mod change the title please to add "& Dragon Slayer sauce reviews"?
Much thanks!
EDIT - Thanks guys! I figured putting them both in the same thread made sense :)

Have just recorded tasting 1 tsp of dragon slayer.
DRAGON SLAYER
Ingredients:
Blueberry,
Vinegar
Bih Jolokia
prunes
crystalized ginger
cherries
green tabasco
black treacle
12 million scoville chilli extract
15 million scoville chilli crystal
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpZ0hnJqu9k
Verdict:
TASTES MUCH NICER THAN DRAGON'S BLOOD 13.
Nice and fruity, but still VERY hot indeed. I would be happy to put a splosh of this on the side of the plate to add to grub (in small amounts added as I go) to give it some fire, like I did in the staff canteen the other night.
Definately less hot than Dragon's blood batch 13, because this didn't cause hiccups of lots of coughing like the dragon's blood did, although rather strangely this did set my nose running like crazy!
Of the two this one is definately my favourite.

Both videos uploaded, YouTube has finished processing them and they should play fine in the above posts.
Enjoy!
My hero! :love29: A whole teaspoon, that was very manly. I was reduced to a drooling wreck by a good blob of Dragons' Blood, and it was only Batch 12.
Excellent vids Dave, I felt your pain. And laughed.

Edited in light of Martyn's post below - my knowledge of anatomy failed me utterly when I wrote this post originally!
The Pain was MUCH WORSE this morning when I had a pee...
The "indigestion" feelings I'd been having were I think where the capascin had been mixing with the milk as I was drinking it to try and get the burn under control and it had therefore formed an evil brew in my stomach which was biding it's time before striking.
I reckon I must have had some of the super hot chilli extract still on a finger (or most likely from moving the bottles in the fridge first thing that morning), and that sparked off severe pain!
Did a more fullsome post about it here http://www.britishblades.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1327020&postcount=52 in the "Chilli Lover's" thread...
Very VERY unpleasant indeed.

Because we're mad?
Looking back, if I'd have know how badly it would have :censored:ed me up this morning then I wouldn't have done it!

I've had the misfortune to not have washed hands properly after chopping chillis and going for a pee once in the past (you learn quickly not to do that again!), and this was exactly the same pain but from the inside!!!

Everything you put in your mouth goes down the one pipe mate. There is no seperate plumbing for solids and liquids, it all goes the same way. Your pee comes from your blood, not your gut. Your bladder is filled by your kidneys and your kidney's make pee by filtering your blood. Unless you've got chillies in your bloodstream, you aint gonna have chillies in your pee. Your tingly johnson probably has more to do with not wearing gloves for your test. :D
The real burn will be when it's time for a number 2. I'll pass on the youtube video, though it probably would be a ripper. :D :D :D
You're a braver man than me though mate.
BTW, I have a vial of pure Capsaicin crystals, I'll send you some if you promise to video yourself trying some? :D I've never had the minerals to try it myself ...and I want a HAZMAT suit before even opening the vial.

Ahh. Good point. Knowledge of anatomy failed there!!
Strangely enough, while the ingestion of large amounts of the chillis did cause an upset stomach later on Sunday but there wasn't any burning pain when passing it.
You're right, I must have had a tiny amount of the chilli extract under a fingernail or something (ahhh! I moved the bottles around in the fridge first thing!), and the all over body pain & shaking must have been triggered by the reaction from that + all the chilli being processed in stomach.
I'll pass on the pure capascin though.
A couple of years ago our local landlord had some Dave's insanity sauce and the pub hero (not me :) ) decided he wanted to taste it. We told him to try a drop on the end of his finger but he went for a swig and instantly lost control of his bladder.

Where did you get those crystals Martyn?
There's someone stealing from my fridge, and I think those would be good to spice things up "a little" :D
And for the short n cuddly Am, please take away Daves videocamera before he does something really daft.

Damn man, that would be EVIL. It'd teach the :censored: not to steal from you, but beware!
Remember which dish you doctored.
Mate of mine did this back at uni many years ago (strong laxatives in chocolate brownies was what he did), and forgot which one he'd done (because marking the dish would have been a giveaway) and then went and had the doctored dish for pud! Oh how we all laughed the following morning when they kicked in....
I'd advise not using pure capascin though. Seriously that stuff can :censored: you up big time and the pure stuff could even kill you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capsaicin
Acute health effects
Capsaicin is a highly irritant material requiring proper protective goggles, respirators, and proper hazardous material handling procedures. It is hazardous in cases of skin contact (irritant, sensitizer), of eye contact (irritant), of ingestion, of inhalation (lung irritant, lung sensitizer). Severe over-exposure to pure capsaicin can result in death; the lethal dose (LD50 in mice) is 47.2 mg/kg.[31] Numerous other adverse health effects can occur in mammals.[35]
Painful exposures to capsaicin-containing peppers are among the most common plant-related exposures presented to poison centers.[36] They cause burning or stinging pain to the skin, and if ingested in large amounts by adults or small amounts by children, can produce nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and burning diarrhea.[36] Eye exposure produces intense tearing, pain, conjunctivitis and blepharospasm.[36]
Go for a bottle of Dragon Slayer and mix it with some HP sauce if the swine is stealing HP sauce off you as well as other stuff. The colour would match, and I doubt it would affect the smell of the HP sauce. But the HEAT. Oh the HEAT will get to him if he then throws it all over his dinner and chows down. And hopefully it would be inedible enough that he wouldn't eat enough to :censored: him up.
And for the short n cuddly Am, please take away Daves videocamera before he does something really daft.
Have no fear. That was the absolute limit of my daftness.
I learned a valuable lesson with those chilli taste tests... And I still have a bit of a dodgy tum too. :(

I am aware of the toxicity and the needed precautions, I think an unauthorized trip to the lab will be needed.

But it`s nice to see some other crazy people around and not just me. ;) :D
Wow Dave, that was very brave tasting a teaspoon of this insanely hot stuff --- twice. :happy65:
I`d never do that. I love hot sauces and taste a drop of hot stuff from my finger tip from time to time but a full teaspoon ------ never! :D
Don`t think it`s very healthy, mate.
BTW I don`t buy hot ketchup anymore but regular tomato ketchup only and put some drops of
https://www.pepper-king.com/out/pictures/z1/sol_10583_pic1_z1.jpg
to it, that`s it. Nice flavour and hot, pretty hot.

Indeed, three spoonfuls of that stuff in total is not very healthy at all. Had an upset stomach Sunday and Monday! :(

just had a spoon of DB13 - got to be honest - not too bad. i'm uploading the vid, but after 5 minutes all was well - heat managable, heartburn a bit frisky after 2-3 mins, but not too bad.
i think i may have to try the satans sh1t after all...

Good on yer gorilla mate!
Maybe your chilli tolerance is bit higher than mine? I've stayed away from the super hot stuff for a while before coming back to being a chilli fan, so I guess I need to build my tolerance back up a bit. (that and having TWO spoonfulls of it in 12 hours along with a spoon of Dragon Slayer).
Good luck with the Satan's Sh1t!
Tried some of the Dragon Slayer today at the meet up
tried a pea sized amount with the Greek Salad I had and it was ok, a small dab in the salad with a bit of cheese was quite nice. On it's own it seemed to taste a bit unpleasant.
I didn't buy a bottle though

I'm a total chillihead, love this thread!
Pete's stuff is great but you cant beat the real thing, try a a ripe Dorset Naga, Tesco's currently sell them.
I'm not a fan of anything with extract in it, Dave insanity for example tastes like ass, I can recommend firefoods though, some fantastic flavour sauces there, his reserve is great.
I started a hot sauce blog a while back, might get around to carrying on with it one day http://thechillihunter.blogspot.com/
