Wow, you must have a burl devining rod. Do you cut from fallen or living trees? I'm curious as to how you precisely identify the part of the tree with such beautiful figuration. As burl is a distortion of the natural growth, caused sometimes by the joining of a limb, or occuring in root growths, it's therefore relatively rare and generally a lot of wood has to be cut in order to source the beautiful burls. You're very lucky to spot it so precisely.
As it's newly cut wood, I take it it's not naturally seasoned. How did you dry it?

Where's the rest of the tree?
Wouldn't mind seeing what size trunk it had... And whether there is anything else worth harvesting from it.

If its newly cut, then you should seal the ends, wrap it newspaper, and put it somewhere dark for a long time. It'll shrink bigtime and crack if not.
i put it in the microwave don't laugh!

I know the technique, I just wanted to know what settings you used for your piece!
[edit - out of phase!]
Did you use a moisture meter?
go for 8 mins on the lowest power setting then i take it out let it cool and stick it back in if not dryed.
