    Bohler 1.2513, 135WCrV4

    Thread Starter: mikew

Does anyone have experience of this steel type? I believe it was made in the 1970's and is now discontinued. The description from the seller is 'a low alloy steel with 1.35 % carbon and some tungsten, chromium and vanadium'. With some searching I've found this spec: C: 1.30-1.40, SI:...

I'm a time served mechanical engineer by trade (although moved into management years ago so I'm a little rusty!) so I do have half an idea....

    Simple carbon steel?

    Thread Starter: mikew

I'm looking for a very simple carbon steel. I want something that will sharpen very easily and take the finest edge possible. No need for high levels of wear resistance or toughness. Ideally available in excess of 6mm thick bars. Any ideas?

Hello folks, After looking forward to it all week, I didn't get out today so no stoving. I've no pictures at...

    Blue Anodised SPITS - Tumbled

    Thread Starter: JonathanD

Big fan of Mike's tumbled SPITS as it removes the sharp edges, and, well, looks good. Sadly Spyderco have discontinued the plain titanium SPITS in favour of the blue anodised version. Not too keen on that myself as the finish doesn't seem to hold up well at all even after a day or so of use. ...
