NITECORE EA8 Caveman Review (8/4xAA)

NITECORE caused a stir with their AA powered EA4 Pioneer, and have now followed it up with the EA8 ‘Caveman’ powered by 8 AAs.

The EA8 takes the principals of the EA4’s design but doubling the power supply and improving range with a larger reflector.

With the array of li-ion powered lights on the market, in the EA8 NITECORE brings great performance to those who prefer to stick to good old AAs.
EKA Swede 7 first impressions!

I got the EKA Swede 7 folder yesterday. I thought it looked nice and promising already as pictured on the EKA web site. I also received some photos of this model directly from EKA around November last year. (Before it was available for purchase). I messed up the forest photos so I just took some in the evening walking around with the knife in town. Against the law!? Well, ... up to interpretation.

After a very quick try I can only say that I will be carrying this one a lot. As the birch wood on this item is so nice I get the urge to get one more to keep this one unused for the collection.

Spyderco Calypso Sprint Review

Hello all,

Well I knew absolutely nothing about the original C54 Calypso before the release of this sprint, but on seeing the new version it immediately called out to me. A classy 'gents' folder in the style of the Police model you say? Well I'll try some of that! I managed to pick one up recently and here is what I make of it so far...

Micarta Scales - My Way

Over the last few years I have made a number of fixed blade knives by moulding home made micarta directly to the tang of the knife. I have made full tang knives bolstered knives and stick tangs, mostly successful if not perfect.

The simplest handle to make is on a full tang blade. Putting a handle on a stick tang is very similar so I will cover both these methods in this tutorial. Bolstered full tang knives I will cover later if people are interested. Bolstered stick tangs I haven’t managed to make reliably yet!

I am nowhere near to perfecting the technique but how I do it is simple and reliable. I hope others will give it a go and try out some new ideas too.

Here are some of

Step by step - grinding a bevel

hello

I recorded this tutorial yesterday
I hope it will help someone
Linerlock Tutorial

I thought I’d do a pictorial of a linerlock I’m making, might be useful to some, so here we go:

Here are the basic parts, roughly cut out. They’re all a little oversized so I can grind them all down together for a tight fit.

Step 1 is drilling all the holes in one of the liners; I’m using UNF-080 screw so I drill with a 1.25mm drillbit:

Step 2 is transferring those holes into the opposite liner. I
