Evening all (though its breakfast time here)

I have stumbled across a number of Cold Steel blade blanks reputedly remnant stock from the Camillus factory closing down. THey are claimed to be CarbonV which is what got my attention. There are SRKs, Kukris and Tantos. As far as I can find on Google these are genuine but I have a couple of questions that maybe someone can help with.

Is there an easy way to tell if they have been heat treated yet or not and is there a way to tell if they are actually Carbon V or the newer stainless version.

Would heat treating them again cause any problems if they have already been done (I would be sending out for heat treatment)

It seems like a great opportunity to get a Cold Steel blank for 10-20 quid if they are in fact Carbon V.

Thanks guys

Tom

An unexpected early Christmas for me! I sent three knives off for various renovations and doses of tlc. I got them all this morning. Feast your eyes!!

Top is a Klotzli Sailor which had got tatty and the good people of Switzerland sent it back to me brand spanking. I’d mangled the clip screws and really scuffed up the carbon fibre scales. Middle is a flat ground Delica 4 that Karel Koci (our Cosco) has put the most fantastic desert ironwood scales on for me. You know that search for the perfect Gent’s knife. It’s over :):)!!!. At the bottom is my old Shing penknife, which Shing just made a D2 sheepsfoot for. The old blade is below. One day I am going to ask him to make up a knife with both blades. What do you reckon??

Quick pics because I just wanted to show them off :D:D

More and better to follow

I am so happy!
Anyone used one of these? Edit: apparently so, considering when I searched for these a BB thread was the first link to appear. :(
I have lots of ideas but would appreciate your opinions on what you want in an EDC knife. Something primarily to be used, not looked at.

For example Style - traditional or tactical etc, blade size and shape, handle size and shape, type of steel, one hand opening/closing, thumbstud or flipper, pocket clip and/or lanyard hole etc etc.
Thanks

I beleive Emerson used to use slotted screws allowing the user to adjust or dissasemble their knife with a coin or something similar (like a screwdriver ;) ). Looking at the merits of that against those of Torx I can think of no reason for the use of torx screws other than knife manufacturers having shares in "The torx screws and drivers company", which I'm sure isnt the case.

Is there an advantage to using torx?
