When it came into my possession, I was told it predated the great war. Can't confirm this personally, but I wouldn't be surprised it if was truth.

***** (seriously? c o c k s) fine, fires fine, though there's clearly a seal issue somewhere (pellets pretty much fall out the barrel). Weighs in at about 2kg, not something I'd want to carry aboot for long periods.

Only markings I can find are the number 701, in two places.

Bit of googling seems to have it marked as a Gem? Before my time tbh.

Any info, comments?

Got a Browning 1910 deact here, with a snapped recoil spring. I've found replacements overseas, but I imagine official import may be tricky? It is just a spring, but as a part integral to a firearm, mightn't that potentially be troublesome?

Vintage would also be good, but not vital.
Any information at all would be lovely.

Dear Hive Mind,
I'm in need of your counsel and experience please:
For a long time now I have harboured a secret desire to own a shotgun with which to blast small clay discs out of the sky. I first tried it a few years ago on a corporate day out and rather got bitten by the bug. SWMBO has long maintained that she does not want to share house-space with a gun, so my desire to get into this properly hasn't gone very far. However the last couple of times I've gone out I managed to convince her to come along, and it would appear she too has got the bug. We hope to move house soon to somewhere with suitable storage, and the green light has been given to start shopping.
So, the questions: she finds the 12 gauge guns that I like too heavy, but rather likes a couple of 20 gauge ones that we have been offered to try out by friends, so it looks like we'll need [at least?] a gun each. At first we thought it would make sense for me to have two guns on certificate, but the question of "what happens when I want to shoot and you're not home?" arose. Are the cops OK with both people in the house having their own gun[s], stored in the same place? Are there added complications that we'll have to work through with them? Should we apply for certs at the same time, or should one of us go first?
Given that she's not too keen on o/u 12s, someone suggested that she consider a SxS 12 rather than a 20 o/u. Is this sensible given that, for the foreseeable, we're hunting for clays rather than live game?
Any other things we should bear in mind before we start with paperwork?

Many thanks,
RichP

Afternoon all,

Thought I'd take advantage of the utterly stunning weather down here, and do a spot of shooting with an HW77 .22 underlever.

Midway through shooting, the underlever stopped seating with the sprung retention ball bearing up near the muzzle.

It just won't go back into it - you can push it up into contact with the bearing, but then it just pops back out again.

Any suggestions?

The gun is very warm indeed, so I've left it to cool in the shade, just in case the heat was messing with the retention spring or something.

Any help at all would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,
Hugh
