Grinders, drill presses, dremels, bandsaws, whats the best, how to use it, where to buy it or how to make it.
Here's the first of the plans for the grinder I built and took to Jack's hammerin. It's just a prototype but it seemed to work fine. I'll do a full build type thread in due course for anyone who's interested... http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f176/bashup/Grindercopy.jpg...

...Knife related presents? I, for example, in spite of heavy hints & subtle ploys (putting Rob Frinks number into the wifes phone, making TKS site home in wifes explorer on her computer, leaving post-its with things like "must get new buffing compound, bars of beeswax, well travelled jars of...
... A B&Q "proline" bench saw, great value @ £80.00 at the moment, & a bandsaw (only a diddy one, but everybody says I need one, so, I've got one!) I'll let you know how they stack up (the bandsaw can wait for a bit, but I've a few jobs that've been waiting for the benchsaw to arrive;) Watch...
No, not a penchant for ladies in stockings :) well okay.....that too.... But, I collected my new (old) leg vice today. I thought I was going to collect a couple of photographic filters from the Post Office. Total weight about 4 ounces. It's a nice summer evening, it's about a mile and a...
Well congrats Col, alittle extra £££ is always nice. I usually build my own boxes though, havent bought a pre-built box for quite a few years now. Here's one I built about 2 years ago, it's a little unusual - it's liquid cooled ;) http://www.abbc65.theseed.net/pics/finished2.jpg A little...
I *think* this belongs here... I've just been spree buying. 1 anvil - not sure on the weight, more than I can lift safely. Or possibly at all. Fantastic bounce off the face with a small ball-pein hammer. I was offered a smaller one, but that just went "donk" when I tried it. 1 leg vice. Good...
I've just started playing with a 4 1/2" cheapy angle grinder, and whilst it works well enough with cutting discs, the grinding discs are frankly useless. I'd probably be faster with a smooth cut file. Or a piece of flat mild. Are there any "better" grinding discs around? Different grits? Or...

Are you the same Keith that was asking about Proxxon mini millers recently in rec.knives? .. I am not sure which one Andy was referring to in his posts ... but they come in quite a range ..... and I too am considering getting one in the near future.

's big, 's fat & it wears a funny hat, it's Machinemart's newest arrival, a 6" x 48" belt sander, with a 9" disc! At last a decent tool:approve: http://www.machinemart.co.uk/images/products/mid/MM060615010CR.jpg
I have finally copped the hump with DeWalt after my cordless went back to the shop for the 3rd time and they now want to charge me £35 for changing a little plastic speed selector switch!! Got my eyes on either a Fein Cordless or a Panasonic, basically because they come with 3Ah + batteries (twice...
Just got an email from screwfix with what looks like a good deal on a pillar drill http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?id=34370 30 quid including the VAT
What grinder do you use and how good is it, has it been modified and how would you like it improved?
with an aching in my heart... There's this guy called "Gunner" on rec.knives selling off some of his spare machinery. Take a look at his website, for an idea of what milling macihnes, grinders, shapers and lathes this man has in his workshop. http://home.lightspeed.net/~gunner/myshop/
OK, this one is daft. I've noticed that whilst making knives (that's what *I* like to call them, anyway), I tend to reach for the same tools all the time. For example - I have a number of files. Quite a number, in fact - yet there is a definite favourite that I have - a Sandvik with second...
