Re: Buying a Ka-bar in London
Out of interest, have you ever found any good knife shops in Moscow? I mean, with a good range of Spydercos, Kershaws etc and with prices that don't hurt too much?
I know of a small one called something like "Nozh" and "Tvoi Dom" had a small selection but the prices were all about the same as here - or higher

Re: Buying a Ka-bar in London
Sure, I've tried to find the knife in Moscow, but Ka-Bars are very expensive here (about 200 UK Pound Sterlings) and one should be a hunter and have a hunter licence to buy the knife (but I'm just a military man). But, yes, I've bought a knife in Moscow - Spyderco Endura 4.

If you have any friends in London, it would be easier for you to order a knife now from a reputable British online retailer, have it posted to your friends, and collect it when you arrive. You'll get better prices and more choice if you can buy online, and you'll save a lot of time too.

Is it possible to find a Ka-Bar at Portobello?

Re: Buying a Ka-bar in London
No
there are a few antique shops up and down Portobello Rd that have the odd WWII bayonet, cavalry sabre or Gunto but you wont find a Ka-bar Im afraid.
To be honest the only decent knife shop I know in central London is A-Z electrical in SOHO just north of Leicester Square. (60 Brewer St)
And when I say decent, he has maybe 40 knives max in the whole shop. Does some decent brands though like Falkniven and Spyderco.Last edited by Kiri; 09-06-10 at 06:38 PM.

I don't know ripper3's circumstances but most Russians don't have credit or debit cards - or access to PayPal too, for that matter (they won't link to Russian banks) - so he might be limited to cash deals. Just a thought.
For ripper3 - the problem is that the UK knife trade has gone mainly internet-based due to many problems - like the anti-knife hype and the cost of brick's & mortar shops.

ripper it is very unlikely that Silvermans will sell you a knife because you have a Russian military ID; unless of course they just put that on their site as there is no real legal reasons.
If you are staying in the smae place for more than 2 days, just order off Heinnies and get it sent were your staying, Heinnies are very reliable.Last edited by 651bobby; 09-06-10 at 07:34 PM.
