Fuji HS10. Only had it a few weeks and this was the first time I used the video. By the time I had really sussed the video mode out, the cutting was finished Next year... Camera will do 1000fps (at lower res) but that was 480 (still quite low res - the spray in the middle doesn't look right which is a shame). Slo-mo needs a lot of light - which I only realised then. We moved the cutting bench to a slightly lighter spot for that shot - we should have done some in full sun but we were all too knackered.

Nice photos Jack. The slow-mo of the bootle cut is a cracker.

I'll bring a couple of big daylight balanced worklights next year. We can put them up on the climbing frame and use them to light up the cutting bench for filming slowmos.

    More building the smelter

    Pizza Oven!

Pizza Oven getting hot for cooking lunch

    View into Rob's tent

Rob & Jack cutting up some more fuel for the pizza oven

    Smelting has started...

    Fire!

    Colin feeding the smelter

    The Devil's hairdryer!

A beercan goes to it's fiery doom!

Me having a go at forging! Shaping the tip from an old file

My forging, tip and tang done. Ready for forging the bevels.

Matt (?) bashing his block of 'mascus with the power hammer.

    View into a forge

View into another forge. Matt's (?) 'mascus block is on the left

The other Dave forging his tang

Dave & Dave's blades together - cooling down ready for forging in the bevels

    Matt's (?) 'mascus billet.

Longstrider on the power hammer with his big chunk of O1

More of Longstrider on the power hammer... Note his patented "Fire Brick"

Longstrider's "Fire Brick" = a piece of firebrick from the forge that fell off and landed in the oil bucket. sucked up some oil, caught fire and kept burning for a good 15 minutes!

Longstrider's O1 in the forge. Sadly, when he went to grind it on Saturday it cracked

    Chicken Stew on the go.

    Videos to follow!

A video from Sunday (I have several others to upload still)

Farid demonstrating his CMP-10V competition cutter by first cutting a tatami mat, then chopping bits off a copper water pipe!
