    My third knife- O1 Skinner

I have just finished my third knife, after making two Bushie style fixed blades it was nice to make something different. I started off with a mockup I did in Photoshop

Then I set to work, I started with 3mm O1 stock and decided at the last minute to change the design to a full flat with convex micro-bevel.

This is my first attempt at a knife with bolsters and I'm quite pleased how it has turned out. Quite a learning experiance.

The tang is tapered from 3mm to 1mm and the blade is thinned to 2.5mm at the spine and has a distal taper.

The idea was to get a really good slicer for skinning/gutting and general work as I have several scandi style 'workhorse blades' for chopping/battoning etc already.

The handle is Amboina burl with Mosaic Pins and brass lanyard hole.
The bolsters are hand made from nickle silver and secured with nickel silver pins
All joints have black fibre spacers and black epoxy.

As you can see the design evolved as it was made, I decided to give the blade a bit of a recurve, to redesign the handle shape for better proportions.

Anyway here goes, I hope you like it,

Third knife, good grief! That's amazing, you're right to be proud of it.

Doc Holliday: McLaury, seeing your face would be a pleasant change. I understand most of your enemies got it in the back.

Thanks for the kind words, I wish I had the photo taking skills of some of the members here. I really struggle to take good pictures of knives, especially ones with a high polish.
