Re: So why the new area?
We have a lot of posts on the forum relating to outdoors activities. It's reached a level where it makes sense to expand the categories and rationalise them into a logical format, partly to help finding information easier and partly to avoid clutter in unrelated forums.

Re: So why the new area?
It may not seem obvious at first, but from day one we have had a lot of posts relating to hunting, fishing, trapping, green laning, backpacking, rucksacks, tents, compasses etc. There are tons of threads scattered over the forums that dont fall into the old "bushcraft" header. It got to a point where rationalising them seemed necessary. Forums evolve in the way the members use them as much as the way the owners direct them and if that's what people are posting a lot of, then that's what we shall have.

Re: So why the new area?
I agree with the new area but I would personally prefer to see if called Outdoors Tools - in line with the rest of the area and many may consider these items when in the outdoors without specifically considering they are bushcrafting i.e. i take a fixed blade when I'm wild camping. I wear synthetic gear and take lightweight kit - a bushcraft traditionalist would be horrified (NB - I would also consider myself a bushcrafter and based on what I would be wearing and carrying when carrying out such fun would be considered to be by many)

Re: So why the new area?
Fair comment, I've called it campcraft tools, which I think is a good catch-all and obviously encompasses bushcraft tools, but is not limited to it.

Don't worry about avoiding temptation, as you get older, it'll avoid you.

Good one - got here tonight and was for a moment horrified for the lack of the brights, etcetera heading...
But then I found this section and felt the equilibrium resettle...
Best regards

Bit of a surprise, but a good one, excellent idea.
