Knife number 6 , this time for a paying customer!
Hi again,
Having recently made a knife as a birthday present for my brother, I was approached by someone who had seen the knife and wondered if I could make one for him. I duly set to work designing a knife specifically with him in mind.
I designed several on the PC and then let him choose, as it happened he chose elements of several.
Here is the result.
4mm O1 with tapered tang, Primary bevel is 2/3 of the blade depth, and has yet to have a secondary bevel ground. (it is currently 1mm thick at the edge).
Black Buffalo horn secured with epoxy and 6mm stainless pins and 6mm SS lanyard tube. Stainless bolsters retained with 3mm SS pins and epoxy.
It is my first time using buffalo horn and It is a wonderful material to work with.
Also note my new 'logo' - well you cant sell knives with no logo can you ;-)
That was done using Press and peel and electro etching.
Well, I hope you, (and the customer) like it.
Tom

Very well made Tom, I particularly love that blade style and I'm a sucker for "coke bottle type" handles.

That's one good looking knife! I have noticed that there seems to be a lot more buffalo horn coming out with flecks and streaks in it. At one stage all you could get was a very uniform black. I much prefer the character of streaks, as the other stuff almost looks plastic in its uniformity.

Thanks for all the kind comments, I have owe a huge debt of gratitude the the forum and those who frequent it as I have learnt so much here. The knife is destined to be a daily workhorse, the chap who is buying it uses a knife daily and for a whole range of cutting tasks. I will be interested to hear his feedback. Will he

Re: Knife number 6 , this time for a paying customer!
Sorry, typo, should have read 'Press-n-Peel'. It is a resist used in etching printed circuit boards. Simply design your logo on the computer, print out a reverse image onto the 'Press-n-peel', Iron the resist onto the knife and etch away.
Cheers
