Re: Spyderco Native Slipjoint
That's nice Skellz! The BB logo looks great
I do like Ratel's idea too; the logo embedded into the handle, although I guess that all depends on the type of material used. I'm hoping for the lanyard hole and a solid clip too earthman, you're not alone! Some one earlier pointed out that this thread sounds a little bit like a spoilt child's christmas list but I like to think we're all just overcome and excited by the possibilities! Whatever Sal gives us is bound to be great and well thought out, but in the meantime surely we can dream?

I agree Uke, no harm in dreaming

Re: Spyderco Native Slipjoint
How about a moulded/milled recess in the handle & a GID BB logo, as a forum knife special?
(I'm wondering if someone could do that as an "after market" mod, rather than as part of the production: would need Sal to comment on the strength of the handle & at the least Martyn's agreement on the use of the logo)With moderate power comes moderate responsibility - Elan

Re: Spyderco Native Slipjoint
I've had a thought.......what about the BB logo on the metal disc left over from cutting the Spyderhole and that disc used on a lanyard in some way?

Re: Spyderco Native Slipjoint
That's rather a good thought Dan. As with the GITD handle slabs I think any little touch to add some interest is important on a forum knife.
I'm thinking that embossing etc on the handle is going to be more complicated for Sal to engineer and push costs up. As far as I know, the forum knives are blade etched only.Frank Mclaury: You're next on my list, Holliday. You better get used to seeing my face, 'cause it's the last thing you're gonna see.
Doc Holliday: McLaury, seeing your face would be a pleasant change. I understand most of your enemies got it in the back.

Re: Spyderco Native Slipjoint
When we began this project eons ago (it seems like), for a BB forum knife from Spyderco, there were no rules. The "Native5" pattern was preferred as a format, but without the lock well, so that's where we began. At this time it's looking like a G-10 version will be first. No color has been decided yet. We are planning some type of more "exotic" or "less common" steel to provide a more distinct "spirit" or "soul" to the model. Most likely full flat ground with a small swedge, (Like the NBative5) to avoid the "dagger" grind of the original Native.
We'll more than likely use a left/right deep pocket wire clip as used on other Slipits due to its sheer function and discrete appearance.
We'd like to but the BB logo on the piece, and as of now, no method has been decided, so any idea is a good idea. Thanx Danzo.
We'd probably not use the actual cut out hole as it would be far more efficient to make the "fob" from scratch, add a lanyard hole and engrave.
Since it will have a left/right clip, the location of a logo on the handle is limited. Don't want to put it on the front side, switch the clip and find the clip covers the logo?
SSssssooooooo....more discussion is needed for: the color and the logo.....steel is still not final, but we go with M4, S90V, Elmax, XHP or similar, I don't think anyone would object. At least not the steel junkies. Stainless or not is a big question?

Re: Spyderco Native Slipjoint
Considering that it's going to be an EDC knife, I think that stainless is a must.
