    Storage of ferric chloride help

Could you give me advice on how I should store ferric chloride ?
What do you use to store yours ?

I have been looking for tall glasses like spagetti jars , waste pipe with blanking ends so far.
I preferably would like a 12 inch + container of some sort.

    cheers.

I use a large kilner jar much like a spagetti jar. it has a large mouth opening and so far has been ideal. i have three one with ferric, one with bicarb and one with vinegar. i think they cost me about £3 each from a cheap cook shop. the plastic seals around the glass lid have been fine to date.

in any thing not metal will work fine i do like plastic most as glass can easily break

ferric does get old and weak with time and old stuff will give a blurry etch so find a container suited in size for what your doing and mix as little as possible

Ive made a 40" tank from a piece of downpipe, with a cap on one end, and a screw cap on the other. (and a matching one for bicarb) got all the bit from Travis Perkins.

I did use spaghetti jars, but its very easy to drop the blade into them and knock the bottom out

    Glass, plastic or titanium!

When the etching became worse I used to test the specific gravity of it, then add water to put it right. It used to last for ages. I can't remember what the radings were though.

That's exactly what I had in mind because I sort of remember that set up at Chris Grants place. I couldn't find the end caps anywhere and thought they were not being made anymore. Thanks for the heads up.

Many thanks to all who replied I have a better understanding of what's required now.
