    Looks like a little beauty.

Any more info on scale, blade make & the lovely materials you have used in the handle?

Sorry but the correct spelling for the maker of the blade is 'Puronvarsi'.

In English, puronvarsi means "side of the stream" - a nice name. It is probably also the surname of the blacksmith himself. Was it Yrjö Puronvarsi, the smith?

Very nice looking knife there with a great blade. Like the material mix, too.

From the pic it looks a bit like the whole knife is designed with a complete curve from blade tip to handle butt end, like on some Tanto style knives. Did i take that right, or is it just a matter of the angle the pic was taken from, if you don't mind me asking?

steve, I think I'm looking at a very beautiful knife ! You should try if possible to include some additional higher clarity pictures, I'm sure these pictures don't do this knife justice. The woods you've used in your handle look really interesting together, the bow the follows the edge of the blade and the belly of your handle is also very interesting, is there a style of knife that influenced this ?

Used to be, but there's been a generation change. Well, he's still called Yrjö Puronvarsi, but I think he's retired from making blades himself and taught someone else to do it, now. The current chap says he's a blacksmith in 6th generation.

Hi everyone, thanks for the nice comments, i believe it was yrjo puronvarsi, it has yp stamed in the blade. however i don't know which one did the smithing.
there wasn't any real influence as to the shape of the handle etc, thats just the way it came out, i'll have a look at some higher res pics.

    best regards
    steve

If it's an older blade, it could be Yrjö himself, but as I understand it all the current blades are made by the new generation and are also stamped "YP". I've got a couple of those, nice stuff.

Hi, here are some better res photo's. apologies for the misspelling of the Smith's name, i do it every time. i have included a steel rule for scale. as you can see i made a right pigs ear of the bolster, the blade grind goes slightly onto the tang. i might not get any blades like this in the future. hope you like the knife when you see the better pictures!

    all the best steve
