Looks good Martyn. I now have 5 lamps, just waiting for 2 to arrive from the bay which I've bought as fixers. If the tubes are damaged may well look at one of these as a replacement.

Brass vap tube update. I fitted it today - took about 30 seconds - old one out, new one in - a straight drop in replacement.

Filled with a drop of paraffin and primed as normal. I noted nothing different with the lighting up. In running it is quieter though. Maybe the 350cp jet would be louder, I dont know, but this 250cp jet is a nice whisper - it's a bit wierd actually having the lamp 'sound' different. But it seems to work fine.

Here it is running with the brass vap tube - not sure how bright it is compared to the old vap tube because it's broad daylight, but it seems about the same from memory. I'm going to leave it running for a while, but so far, I'd call it a winner.





Also I tested the jet pricker knob which I can confirm works as usual.

LOL, sorry about that. Just fitted mine, the jet pricker doesn't seem to do anything though. lamp is working fine and nice and bright but the knob doesn't seem to block fuel flow as before.

Worked on mine. All it need to do though, is poke through the jet hole to clear it. Have you tried putting your finger on the jet to see if you can feel the needle poking through?

I've lusted after one of these for ages.

Cant wait to get my hands on it. Very different in operation to the Vapalux....

No meths or priming fluid, but a built in blowtorch. Gotta love the Germans.

Does yours have the meths pot as well Martyn?? It can be fitted as an optional extra and the talk on the Pelam forums and CPL is that it's gentler on the mantles. Is nice and convenient though

I was fairly sure I would find a decent lamp today at the boots, but nothing more than a couple of knackered old Tilley offerings. Maybe tomorrow. That petromax looks fairly impressive.

Not that I know of mate. It hasn't arrived yet. Do you know if the all metal pelam nozzles are worth an investment?

If you mean the stainless ones I have one fitted to the Hipolito I have as it came with it but after reading the forums (Both Pelam and CPL) apparently they're not worth it. They seem to have a nasty habit of dropping off due to the nozzle expanding at a different rate and eventually undoing themselves (That's the theory at least) and they don't give any noticeable improvement on the light output as claimed. A lot of people seem to end up re-fitting the ceramic ones but they're hard to get hold of these days.
