Sami Puukko
Here is a Sami style knife I made, with a Lauri 95 mm blade. The handle is reindeer antler, leather and birch.

The sheath looks Ok and teh handle looks good but its a real pity that the blade is is not far enough into the handle.
Is that a factory bolster?
Look HERE for how to fit one better next time if it is.Last edited by Scoutmaster; 17-03-11 at 06:48 PM.

Agree with Alf.
If you glued the handle with epoxy ..just boil it...and ready to rehandle

Re: Sami Puukko
That handle looks very nice in the right combination of materials to make a traditional scandi.
As said above, the blade shoulders should be close and tight to the bolster, at least for the looks IMHO. But on the other side there recently was a thread where the folks explained that this gap was done on purpose and quite a traditional thing so you could use the full potential of the length of the edge and sharpening would be easier.
All in all a nice and traditional puukko with the right sheath and a name that fits as well.Cheers
Harald

Re: Sami Puukko
Thanks guys, one thing I think is that the sheath looks rather plain, could do with a stamp on it...
