At last, my very first knife finished.
After what seems like an eternity, I have finally finished my first knife.
Specs:
3mm O1
Lace Sheoak scales with black liners.
Mosaic pins
Overall length:215mm cutting edge 95mm
3rd and last pic are with the flash on, the others show the real life colour.

Now I need to learn to do the leather work for it.Last edited by SwissTony; 12-04-11 at 02:37 PM.

Not a bad effort for your first. The grind lines are pretty good and it certainly looks useable.
It looks a little square sided for my taste and I 'd be looking at rounding the belly of the handle a little and giving the knife a bit of a waist, but you can do that another time. Just use it for now and find out where you need to do those little tweaks.“I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.”

That's a good effort , lovely wood you've used.
How long did it take you out of interest ?'His knife see rustic Labour dight, An' cut ye up wi' ready slight, Trenching your gushing entrails bright, Like onie ditch;
And then, O what a glorious sight, Warm-reeking, rich!' ..................Robert burns extract from the address to a haggis.

To long

I am not to sure of an exact time, but as I could only do a certain amount per day before I had to stop with my back problems, it took a long time.
Getting the handles on was pretty quick, but the blade took ages, due to lack of technique.
parbajtor: I had thought about rounding the belly of the handle more, but it feels very comfortable in the hand as it is, so I left it. I will change it if it gets uncomfortable in use.

quite lovely. I'm impressed that you were able to stick with it considering your back and only being able to do little bits. I often get sidetracked or my interest goes out the window if I cannot do large stints. Congrats!
