A short while ago South African knifemaker Willem O'Kelly aka "Smokepole" here on BB posted up his new UK legal EDC friction folder based on the classic "Sodbuster" pattern and it has attracted a fair bit of interest, so I've been talking with him about a group buy. Willem uses the makers mark "K'roo" in reference to the Great Karoo region of South Africa where he lives and works.

We are now ready to go, so here is a picture of the original knife, as commissioned by Corso of this parish, although the group buy knife will have the option of a Michael Morris authorised bottle opener extended tang:








The specs are as follows:

Overall open length is 145mm. Hollow ground 65mm blade of classic 01 steel. African hardwood handles, of which more below. Brass liners, a 5mm solid brass pivot, brass stops and spacers. Lots of lovely brass:





There are three wood options as well. First is Black Chacate as in the pictured friction folder above. Next there is the gorgeous rich red coloured African Paduak as used on this fixed blade by Willem:





And lastly Wild Olive as seen on another fixed blade by Willem:

Willem has said that if we can get fifteen people signed up to the group buy then this very lovely UK legal EDC can be had for US$60.00......which at todays exchange rate is an absolute bargain £39.00 plus your choice of postage within the UK.

Thank you all for the orders to date! DaWoodster, 15 is indeed not a max - I'll do a max of 30 for this GB and will look at a few more if the interest is there - after all, making knives is what I do and the more the merrier!
My link here on the farm is a little slow, but I would appreciate if you could start indicating what you would like ito handle scales and bottle opener options please, so I can start building.
