Nissan Patrol problems
Just on the off chance anyone is a Nissan Patrol expert-
My dad has one that wont start, 2001 3L Diesel cranks over but nothing else, took it to the local Nissan garage they couldn't be bothered fixing too complicated for them! But they did reckon it may be to do with electronics on the fuel pump.
Any ideas ?
I suggested he should buy a Defender

Re: Nissan Patrol problems
Could be a leak in the fuel line, letting air in. Had it happen on mine near the fuel tank, check the areas around any clips.

Re: Nissan Patrol problems
what year is it? if it is a common rail injection model could well be a cam/crank sensor fault if its an older style injection system could well be a fuel stop solinoid fault lots of variables but fuel pump electronics could cause failiure to start.

Re: Nissan Patrol problems
If it is an older style injection pump, as opposed to electronically controlled, it probably has a cut of valve, many of these around that ilk (Landrover and Mitsi) had an electronic device that instead of delivering a steady 12v (which any theiving no good could then make work) they fitted an electronic device that sent a pulsed 12v signal, if this has gone wrong no go. a luck on mud clubs Nissan section might be in order -mudclub.com there's a slim chance his heater plugs aren't working and now the temps are dropping it won't catch, but usually it will splutter into life, you could try a bit of easystart, if that brings it to life then dies it implies fuel pump or cut off. If it still won't go then no ideas.

Re: Nissan Patrol problems
still not got the Nissan patrol going, glow plugs changed and fuel coming out of the injector pipes but still just cranks over. I'm thinking fuel pump that maybe is not delivering enough pressure not sure how much should be coming out or maybe its the injectors.
Any ideas ?
Cheers frase.

Re: Nissan Patrol problems
I'd check the fuel stop solenoid before doing anything else. Then I'd tow it 5 miles down the road and call the RAC.

Re: Nissan Patrol problems
I'm not sure if it has a solenoid, when power is connected can't hear anything clicking but wonder if it does have one could be half open or closed letting a bit of fuel through but not enough.
The RAC has seen it already they just tried some easy start then it was towed to the garage.

Not sure if they have an in line fuel filter, but possibly worth checking for a blocked one.
