    A bit of a fail

this was a bit of a fail and it fought me every step of the way it almost ended up in the bin a few times .

It is 4mm 01 , black hessian over orange liners
I haven't measured it up yet (I might do it tomorrow)

The mail fail was the tang started out as a tapered but I put a bit to much pressure on the blade when grinding and ended up digging in . So I thinned the whole of the tang to about 2 mm .This is the 3rd set of scales Ive made for the knife (I will be glad to see this one go)

    Turned out nice though.

I think you rescued it well in the end. Amazing how knives have "personalities" isn't it - some just work from day one and some will "fight" you all the way - and yet, sometimes, just like the runt of the litter they turn out to be the best ones in the end!

    It's a reverse cheese knife.
Solid blade, holes in the handle

    Looks good.

how is it a fail ?
i like it . keep making um differant , the world gets old if we keep regurgitating old ideas .
i think its a modern classic ! and i know it would apeal to others . what sheath are you thinking ?
im like you make my own micarta and have been thinking long and hard about using it as sheath material but cant get my head round how to do it !

its only a fail in that it didnt come out the way I had planned. As a knife it works ,it fits my hand , its sharp (pops hairs ) and it sold quite quickly
In a way I think we learn more from our failures than we do from our successes (thats why I posted pics )
as for a micarta sheath, I have tried and it was a complete failure and went in the bin before a camera got anywhere near it
although I think the problem was that the micarta is too rigid . Kydex has some 'stretch' in it . I might have another go sometime

Yes absolutely and respect to you for posting the pics and being so honest .

Still,it looks like a good useable knife to me .
