SAK rehandled in leather
I originally started thinking about using leather as an interesting spacer for a wood handle, then I got carried away and did the entire handle in leather.
It is incredibly tactile and much warmer and more forgiving in the hand than either plastic, or wood.

Nice Job Hepo - did the leather already have that texture, or did you put it on yourself?
Just done my first job on one of these, in wood tho, they look much better than red plastic......

Re: SAK rehandled in leather
I put the texture on it to give a bit more grip as I intend to use her. It was done by melting beeswax into the leather and then pressing a piece of threaded rod over the top, rather like a miniature rolling pin. I was going to do it at 90 degrees too, to get a chequered effect, but I like it like this, so decided against it.

Nice job
Might even be tempted to have a go. What adhesive did you use - epoxy?

Re: SAK rehandled in leather
I just use epoxy resin. I didn't do it in the best way though. I originally glued on a single 2mm thick piece to use as a liner. Then I realised I liked the look and feel, so put a second 2mm piece on top. It means that I don't get the outline of the pins showing through too much, but if I were to do another, I think I would go for a single slab of more substantial leather.

The impression left in the leather from the scales was perfect to cut round and meant that I had less chance of damaging myself in the final application.
A lot of beeswax and boot polish later and they shine up quite well.Hepotec says: It's not big or clever to be six foot four and in mensa.......
