Re: East Anglian Members Meet II - Revenge Of The Tongs :)
Hi gents,
Quick update.
As the list has got bigger and bigger my garden has started to look smaller and smaller
So with this in mind I have arranged a new venue, this meet will now be held at my Father-In-Laws, its not much bigger size wise, but we can use all of it (nothing to break), I can put up a nice big gazebo with tables and chairs and there are two half barrel bbq's allready on site.
Also this new site is only 5 mins from my house in Cambridge so no changes to travel plans, there is a proper off road car park in spitting distance and we are far enough away from other folks to not have to worry about noise and waving around sharp pointy things.
Only down side is that I have no way of getting my anvil over there and there is no grinder etc, so unless there is someone coming in a transit van and they want to help me pick it up in the morning and take it back again at the end of the day, sadly there will be no metal bashing
But if anyone really wants to have a play let me know and I will try and arrange something.
And finally, as no one has expressed any difficulty in making it for the fourth, I think we can call the date confirmed now.
Hope this sounds ok to all.

Not sure how heavy your anvil is but I'm happy to try and get it in the back of my van (currently Citreon Berlingo but may change it for a VW caddy). I have a sack trolley knocking around somewhere. If it needs more than two to lift then maybe someone else can meet us at yours to lend a hand.

I was around at blobbybob's house yesterday and saw his anvil - it's a beast. We were talking about getting it into the back of my station wagon but if you've got a van that's much better. I'm very happy to lend a hand carting it around. We were even discussing possibly using an engine hoist to move it!

Yeah a van probably would be better tbh.
So if you guys are up for it we can get a plan together a bit closer the time.
I reckon between the three of us we can shift it onto a van and off agian by hand, should only have to move it about 6 feet at both destinations.

I have a Hi-Lux twin cab if you need to shunt stuff around, could make it ahead of the rest and r-v at yours if that assists, also I'll be travelling from Norwich down the A11 if anyone needs a lift.

Think a van will be easier to load than a pickup, I had a Navara twin cab and the load area was quite high compared to a typical van.
I'm only about 15 minutes away so no problem to come over early if you need me to. One way or another it looks like it won't be a problem.

Yep, everything still on track.
I had planned a mass "2 weeks to go" heads up PM to all on the list Sat/Sun with all the details and to try and get an idea of final numbers.
So you will have to wait
While i think of it Kev, do you use coke in your forge ? Reason I ask is trying to find a little bit to run the forge on the day, I can get charcoal obviously, but it goes through it pretty quick and I figured coke might last a bit longer.Last edited by blobbybob; 17-02-12 at 02:42 PM.

I've got a bag of coke that I'm happy to contribute to the cause. Just remind me to bring it with closer to the time.
