leeds armory meet ?
hello guys we visited leeds armory yesterday had a fantastic time . it seems from reading the guid book you can organise group visits with curators etc . i wondered if we could organise one for the pattern weld collection and the japanese collection ? although the kris blades where probably the nicest patternated we saw (etched in lime juice and arsenic !) i have no idea if there would be cost involved but it is free entry ?
if we could get intrest im more than happy to try to organise this .
what do you think ?

I'd be prepared to go "north of the river" to visit such a place, I was thinking just the other day that I must get round to visiting Leeds armoury this year, and it would be good to go with some of you folks on here, so yeah!

Re: leeds armory meet ?
When I worked down south (Wakefield) I had a season ticket to the armoury, great exhibits & the finest sword/stick fighting demonstrations I ever saw, even more enlightening they'd let you stay and watch them train/rehearse after the show.

Re: leeds armory meet ?
I have a fairly close friend (fencing buddy) who was a curator when it was at the Tower of London. He helped oversee the move to Leeds and still works there. I haven't seen him for a while and he was on leave the day I went to the Armoury (but I left a message). I'm sure an enquiry and a mention of my name would get something a little bit more special than the usual group visit. He used to do a lot of the restorations and specialised in European mediaeval weaponry.
I'd love to come along depending on my schedule etc. and hopefully get something arranged (if he still works there,)“I am free, no matter what rules surround me. Re: leeds armory meet ?
I'm in the UK for the first three weeks in Feb, If it's possible to have it then, I'd be there.
If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

Re: leeds armory meet ?
Just discovered that my friend is now Senior Curator Weapons Department at the Leeds Armoury and have asked enquiries for some contact details.
