    Re: Klarus XT1C Torch Passaround

Lee thanks for your thoughts mate.
Similar thoughts to my own, excellent light and the button setup is probably the best I have used and very easy to get used to.
I already have the bigger 18650 powered XT10 which my wife uses when walking the dog so was already aware just how good the UI was.

Dave I am sure you will like this.

The XT10 looks damn nice as well. I can see myself getting both - I love the look of the UI on these!

Lets see how I find the passaround XT1C - proof of the pudding and all that!

    Re: Klarus XT1C Torch Passaround

Guys I'm going to drop out of this passaround if that's ok. I'd love a look at the torch but having just been signed off for another month I'm not in a position to buy one and to be honest and the budget is even tight for postage!! many thanks to Brian for organising the passaround and I'll just keep my eyes open for others later.

It arrived at my work today by 1st class recorded delivery.

Haven't had time to get it out of box yet so will have a good look when I get home.

Nice looking torch and decent packaging

    More later!

Only just home from work, and haven't had dinner yet!

    Right. Here's my thoughts...

This is a very nicely put together and finished torch and has nice packaging will make it stand out from other torches on shop shelves. It comes with the usual accessories - a decent belt sheath, wrist lanyard, spare o rings and a spare tailcap boot. But no pocket clip (which is odd for a torch this size)

It has a surprisingly deep reflector with light orange peel finish and has antireflective coating on the glass lens (Nice!) the quality of the reflector gives it an excellent beam profile - no rings or odd artefacts, good hotspot - and it throws amazingly well with a good spill bearing in mind the small size of the head and reflector!

Good anodising and design to the body & fins - not just another "tactical" light that looks like all the others.

High is surprisingly bright for a single 123 cell torch

Superb UI! I love the two button tailcap for on/off and mode switching. The power button always turns it on in high (with no memory of last used mode) and you have instant strobe by pressing the mode button when the torch is off. Strobe is momentary from the mode button (from the torch being off) unless you hold down the button for 3-4 seconds.

The mode button just cycles modes when the torch is on, until you hold it down for a second or so, at which point strobe activates and stays active until you click the mode button again to return to high. The strobe is really evil - high speed for a few seconds, then slower, then mid speed, then back to high. Best thing, is that you can tell which button is which with your eyes closed, so no accidental strobings from off...

High, medium and Low are to my mind very well spaced apart.

In short this is a superb little EDC-able "tactical" torch, and I think it will make its owners very happy.

    Will I get one?

Maybe not. (although it is tempting me)

    Whyever not?

It can only run on CR123 primary cells or 3V rechargeables, not the 3.7V cells my other 123 sized torches run on. This will make me have to be extra careful to only run it on primaries or I'll have to buy yet another type of rechargeable just for it.

What about it's XT10 18650 powered big brother?

OH YES. If the quality of this little 'un is anything to go by then Klarus have a brilliant "tactical" UI in this series. I'll be ordering one forthwith (well, once I get paid this month )

    What about a non-Jamie viewpoint?

I showed it to the Mrs and she loves it - no problems with it being primary cells only for her. "Thats a really nice little torch. I think I'll get one"

    Re: Klarus XT1C Torch Passaround

Dave, I ran the XT1C during the passaround 100 % of the time on AW 16340 cells without a single problem.

I'm guessing that either the driver can take the voltage, or you were lucky not to fry it mate!

The manual states 1.8 to 3.2V only working voltage.

If Klarus could confirm that it definately can take the 4.2V of a freshly charged 16340 / RCR123 then this would be on my "will buy" list

I'm not going to try it with one of my AW ones "just in case"

    Re: Klarus XT1C Torch Passaround

Seems Lee, Dave and myself think this is a cracking wee light.
Dave the XT10 is just the same high quality but in single 18650 guise.
Same button setup but obviously it is quite a bit more powerful.
