    lansky multi sharpener

Hello all. Im currently in the market for a sharpener. Ive been looking at the lansky multi sharpener. I want something thats gonna put a decent edge on my little opinel no 5. Also I recently got a spyderco ukpk drop point part serrated and would like to keep a good edge on it. Will the lansky one be ok?

this multi sharpener is made for field touch up not really for sharpening and restoring.
I would suggest to switch the the Lansky sharpener system that I use from ages and never failed with short blade.

+1 on that, the multi sharpener would soon get annoying to use if it was your only sharpener. the Lansky System is very good as is the Spyderco Sharpmaker. I have both and I think that for an Opinel which is pretty much a flat grind with a secondary bevel, the Sharpmaker will give you more flexibility.

I've both the lanksy multi sharpener and the spyderco sharpmaker. Like has been said, the multi sharpener is okay for field use when your not at home and it needs a quick usable edge but if you really want a decent edge put on then a spyderco sharpmaker in my opinion is fool proof . Also the other alternative with using the sharpmaker is that you could get a pouch for the ceramic rods and carry one of the grey and one of the white about with you, there's loads of versatility with them, obviously some space permitting.

Have a look at this. For the money, it's an excellent buy.

    Re: lansky multi sharpener

As far as sharpening the serrations on a blade, I think the lansky multi-sharpener would be great. I've never used one but I think i'd struggle to keep a consistant edge with such a small fiddley sharpener. If I were you i'd go for the fallkniven DC3/DC4 or a spyderco double stuff. Also i'd say the lansky multi-sharpener would be alot easier to lose/misplace whilst in the field.
