Who can make me a damascus blade for my UKPK?

    Hello,

Hope this is the right section????

I notice that all the 'pretty' pen knives tend to be lockers & thus non uk carry legal.

I'm looking for a UK legal, 'pretty' knife & it seems the market is not really up for this.

I love spyderco & the idea of the forthcoming, 'Damascus/carbonfiber' cally, later this year, is very exciting.

But, yet again, it's not UK carry legal.

So, is there anyone out there who can 'make' a damascus blade to fit my titanium UKPK?

This may seem a little nieve but I was kind of hoping to use some Thomas or Norris billet & need some one (or team), to shape, grind, temper & then etch it, producing a fancy looking, usable blade which I can swap into the ti chasis.

I'm sure there is more to it than this but I'll leave that to the experts: I'm just out to get in touch with someone who can produce a usable & pretty blade, to replace the existing s30v.

Any one up for it? Or know who can?

PS. The ever helpful Spyderco are aware of my intentions.

I have several UK legal pretty knives
Russell White, Shuggs and David H damascus Slipjoints and I have a CaseXX damascus Eisenhower.
A damascus UKPK is a nice idea though.

Hey, that's right. He's got one, hasn't he.

Kent, eh? Wonder where my stripey shirt and swagbag is

I'd like scarlet G10 scales on it tho. That, or some richly figured burl or other

Just to be clear, I'm hijacking your thread, not offering to help you out - unfortunately my project list is far too long to take on anything else but I have something relevant and unbearably cool. I have...
...a piece of 'piano key' pattern damascus that Ed Schempp and I made from S30V UKPK holes that I picked up at the factory that is waiting for me to make it into a blade for a UKPK.

    Just thought I'd share.

So, the weekend has passed & 7 fabulous contributions but I'm still no closer to my goal.

If it helps, let me reasure readers, I'm happy to pay money!

Still no takers? Please, come on, there must be some blade makers out there happy to take this one on?

You never answered my question, and you've given no idea about timescales.
The grinding is not an issue, but the HT could be (for me anyway). There's a massive difference in material costs between carbon & stainless and that would need to be taken into account.

Do you want it to have a spydie hole?

If so, you need to look at people with a licence for it.

You need a licence for that size drill bit?

It might be worth contacting Sypderco but I was under the impression that they are only interested in licensing the hole to folk who are actually producing in some volume...not doing one-off replacement blades. It would be good to have this confirmed though.

Do you actually know anyone making replacement blades for spydies? I don't.
