A few mosaic pins
Ran some more experiments with mosaic pins and here are the results. The dark ones are British racing green, not black. Think I need a lighter shade there. All comments, suggestions welcomed.

I swear, it's easier to make these than it is to take a decent pic of them. Mind, my process is still a bit messy and need tidy that up a bit, or my whole workshop will end up green, red & black!

Stunning pins, really nice.
Frank Mclaury: You're next on my list, Holliday. You better get used to seeing my face, 'cause it's the last thing you're gonna see.
Doc Holliday: McLaury, seeing your face would be a pleasant change. I understand most of your enemies got it in the back.

Re: A few mosaic pins
I like the noughts and crosses board - bit different. Not a fan of red in mosaics but that's just my own taste. i like the idea of british racing green.

Re: A few mosaic pins
Those are excellent, prefer the green/darker ones (just personal pref), well done, haven't had the courage to tackle the making myself yet, may have to go on the "do" list

Good job, gavin.
I usually use transparent pigments rather than opaque, but your colour choices highlight the issues. Your red stands out much more than transparent red would, but on the darker shades (BRG) the green would be more apparent (in transparent hue) because of the increased reflectance“I am free, no matter what rules surround me. Re: A few mosaic pins
Aww shucks guys!
Parbajtor, what do you use as pigments? Like I say, this is new to me, so I've been following recommendations from the resin supplier, CFS.
Stew, if I'm honest, I'm still not certain about the chequer board ones. It was a plastic extrusion, which just happened o fit inside 1/4" tube. Bit more delicate to polish and I'm not certain if the centre hole is truly flled.
Ru, I owe you, so if I can source suitable copper, I'll sort some out for you. Bit busy at mo, so might be couple of weeks.
Cheers guys, really appreciate the comments.

Epoxy resin pigments - can't remember which online store. You get a choice of transparent or opaque. The Opaque had a much bigger variety of colours though.

Re: A few mosaic pins
Love the red ones. I was looking for some red a while back. i finished up going with black... The red with the concentric squares (middle row right side) is my favourite. It has a Moorish feel to it. Most impressive

Re: A few mosaic pins
Brilliant

... and I'm not a fan of mosaic pins
Usually I see them as badly made, misaligned and 'last year's fashion', but you've shown me they can be rather cool
Just do stuff. The kit doesn't have to be perfect.

Re: A few mosaic pins
Thanks for all your comments guys, I really appreciate your views and advice.
BaseMetal, make comments like that and you'll be seeing lots more mosaics from me
.
However, these are just stand alone pieces. I do feel that to work in a completed knfe, they need to compliment the overall design and reflect the fit and finish of the rest of the work.

Re: A few mosaic pins
GavinSingh, some really nice pins !! Looks like you'll be making a lot of these !!

You should come up with a display board of some kind of nice wood, nicely finished, these beauties deserve a top notch display !!Old Norwegian proverb:
Behind the clouds the sky is always blue.
