Re: The Birth of a Tool (Axe) & latest, Chisel
I guess it came about from a number of things, starting with Gizmo's recent Cegga Beauty thread and a very good BB mate showing me the why's and wherefore's of different axes and their uses.
Now I have two, and two more on the way.......and looking to do some kind of axe course this summer if possible.
Slowly - very slowly, my grey matter is coming to understand a little more about steels and how all these great tools and blades most of us just buy, are made.
Then today I was sent this vid. Utterly delightful, no glitz or glamour, just an honestly and very nicely made piece of filming and craftsmanship.
I'm no-one to judge, but this unassuming fella will do well.

Re: The Birth of a Tool
I'm the BB mate who passed this video on to Chui. The video is well made, the setting is superb and the axe being made looks very good too. I enjoyed watching this very much.
Cheers!

Re: The Birth of a Tool (Axe)
damn fine video and looks a superb axe. Will be taking some of mine for a workout this weekend down the farm. We have a couple of trees down and I shall be starting work on a new field kitchen.

Enjoyed that. Makes a refreshing change to have a nice soundtrack as well. Not some bluddy head banging stuff! Suddenly i want another axe......

You can learn all the math in the 'Verse, but you take a wagon in the field that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as a turn in the whirls. Love keeps her on the road when she oughta stop, tells you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her a home....
