Could do with something larger than my air rifle for the small deer and the odd fox.
    Unfortunatley a big NO NO.

had an e mail back from broomhills.

they have lodge area we could use, and do a group booking price for the range, have e mailed back with more details to see if this works out cheaper than normal day range hire etc. i have suggested to them that first date would be a weekend either late this month or early april? i have also hinted - to see if it does anything to the price that this might be an every other month thing.

will keep ya up to date. i might pop in actually as i only work over the road to them.

have just thought, as this was simply a probing thread to see if there was any interest at all, once we have some sort of basic idea of what we are doing, ill start a thread with location, dates and stuff, but keep posting in here for the time being until we know kinda what we are gonna do?

Count me in if the dates fit in with my hectic social whirl!

Shooting and sharps sounds like a fun day out.

ok, after an exchange of an e mail or two, i am off to meet Amber Brown at broomhills on sunday morning, to see what we can sort out for a meet, i am hoping we can sort a room for knifey stuff and perhaps a reduction in range price for a group of us.

Soooooo round the M25 and up the M1. Shouldn't be too far to drive on a Sunday.

    Re: Herts, Beds & Bucks

ok, been over to 'the shooting grounds' (broomhills) today and had a chat with Amber, who arranges things there.

they are fine, with enough notice to rope off an area in the lodge bit, where there are tables and chairs for us. today there was no-one in there at all but, there is the chance that on other days if the weather is not so good, that there will be other people in there. i did discuss the reason we would be there, i.e knives, and the fact that they would be on display and handled, and she was totally happy with that.

she is also quite happy to rope off one end of the air rifle range for a couple of hours for our use only. it was quite busy today, but then the weather is nice. so having a section roped off is a good plan.

she would like a bit of notice, mainly to make sure our attendance does not clash with any other groups that want to set aside in the same way we want.

there are beverages and food available from the snack bar, and i think this is where she is hoping to make some dosh from us. the only charges are for those wanting to shoot, which is £8 per gun. they have guns for hire too but i am sure we would have enough to go around.

i was thinking sunday 25th march or sun 1st apr as a meet date? i can do either, but if there is a pref then please post here, once we have a few replies i will put up a meet thread.

What sort of times are we talking about on the chosen day?

I have other commitments on both days, but they are not all day commitments, so want to see what I have to work around.

by consensus really, although i think the range closes at about 4pm on the sunday, so we could do am or pm for a few hours? not too early in the am though

Either Sunday is good for me Early Lunch time to 4?

Is it OK to bring my 14 year old son? He comes to the LSECCA meets with me.

    Thanks for organising!
