Think you may have a Dunsley Highlander 7? I have the Highlander 5.
When burning wood always burn with the grate closed. Wood in a wood burner takes the air from above. Coal etc needs an open grate and it burns from below.
To stop you door sooting up, run with the lower air vent (below the glass) closed and the upper vent (above the glass) open. This creates an air wash and prevents the build up of soot.
I totally agree, go for a strong deep ember bed, hugely hot, limited flames but burning as effectively as it can!Last edited by Big_bazza99; 09-04-12 at 04:19 PM. Reason: Typo
