Thanks. It is about 3.6cm high and 3.0cm wide at the moment at the largest point.

Re: Starting First Fixed Blade
I would say that the height is OK but I would it needs to be under 25mm thick and closer to 22mm myself.

Re: Starting First Fixed Blade
It's coming along... slowly. I cut some 180 grit paper into strips and sanding using a 'shoe-shine' motion. Still a little on the large side.

Looking good.
I've never tried a stick tang.. Sort of inspired to give it a go now.
What are your plans for the final finish?

Re: Starting First Fixed Blade
Thank-you for your comments jonofdoom and scoutmaster. It still needs much more work before finishing. Following more shaping, my plan is to sand through 400 grit. Then 'feed' it with Chelsea Leather Food. I want a real leather feel. The final finishing will likely be a an alternating series of Leather Food and ever finer sanding until the desired effect is achieved. That's the plan at the moment.

Re: Starting First Fixed Blade
This is it after slimming down and a little leather food. Will let it dry for a day and then fine sanding on the weekend.

Looking good!
Even in the sheath, the knife must be kept sharp.

Re: Starting First Fixed Blade
I've done as much as I can with the handle. It turned out a little darker than I expected, but overall I'm happy with it. Just need to finish the brass fittings and polish the blade.

Re: Starting First Fixed Blade
That looks really nice. I think the colour is great and the spacer order works well.
