    Ken Erickson horseman' knife

    Hi,

I spend some time reading here, but have not posted before. I did have something to show here that I was pretty happy with the way it turned out. As some may know I am a maker of traditional slipjoints and love to study vintage knives made by the masters, including the Sheffield makers.

This is my first attempt at a horseman's knife. This pattern is based on a Geo Wostenholm and Sons 210 pattern. I kept it pretty true to the original beat up example that I used as a pattern. I would love for other to show pictures of horseman/sportsman's knives made in Sheffield. Please feel free to make any comments, good or bad(thats how I learn), or ask questions about this knife. Thanks for looking! I also lathe turned from brass bar stock a oil bottle featuring a stopper capped with Mammoth Ivory to go along with the knife.

Amazing workmanship, this is one of the nicest multi-blade folders I have ever seen. The oil bottle is lovely too.

Thank you Gents for a warm welcome and kind comments on this knife. I have been making slipjoint joints for 5 years or so now and try and push my limits and skills by building knives such as this one. I did take a few progress pictures as I was making this knife. The blade steel and springs are 154CM while the corkscrew/leather punch and hoof-pick are CPM154cm. I make the bolsters/frames out of solid 410 SS . Here are a few of those progress pictures.

Very nice. I have a couple of originals. The collectors over here really like them.

Thanks for showing those! Who are the makers? I was interested in how you perceive the amount of effort to open the hoof-pick? Do any of these have a fleam?
