    Three new ones

    Greetings all,
I have not made a knife for 18 months or so due to nice changes to my life but have been a bit more busy recently. The skill levels and finishing of the knives that are posted on this forum by you all scare me they are so good, but if I make one I like to post a pic or two, so here goes:

First one. Polar Skinner 90mm with brass bolster, leather spacers, bog oak, elk antler and another piece of oak from a house being refurbished. Finished with linseed followed by carnauba/beeswax polish.

I made this for a friend who retired a few weeks ago, he gave me some bog oak so I needed to include it. I wasn't very happy with it but he couldn't change his retirement day! There is something odd about the shape and the size of each section of wood but he was happy with it. I think you can tell when someone likes a gift as he kept on getting out of the sheath and looking at it. Professional opinions welcome from you all. Did do a western sheath but forgot to take a picture.

    Next two:
Top. Vikstrom ~76mm. deer antler, birch bark spacer, visakoivu. Again finished with linseed and carnauba.
Happy with this one as it is the first antler bolster I've made and I have been using it as my main whittling knife.

Bottom. Polar 62mm. birch burr, elk, birch burr. Burr found on birch log on the side of the road. Also quite happy with this one, no spacers to cover up mistakes!!! No sheaths yet.

    Comments welcome as ever

    All the best

All are nice, but I'm most attracted to the Vikstrom knife. Good work, classic work.

I do agree. The simplicity and the materials make it very traditional and elegant. Great proportions and lovely fin(n)ish.

Great knives! Like them all, but most of them - the Vikstrom-blade one. It seems to be grown directly in the Northern parts.

+1, good choice of materials there.

What he said, mate. The Vikstrom does it for me most, too, but all are very nice. Great job!

Thanks all. Everything apart from the blades was free which always makes me happy! Next project will be a Kankanpaa 80mm with ebony bolster and walnut, still working on the plans.
