What are the top 3 or 5 most powerful torches sub £100
As above, any ideas, ever since I was a kid and my dad had this massive torch you could shine on the clouds I've been fascinated with high power torches but not really owned any yet, for a couple of brights but wonder what sort of performance you can get for spending a bit more.

Hahahah you can cook with it! That's just fantastic.
Somnophore - might want to be a bit more specific. You asked for the most powerful, but complained about battery time - I think there's going to be a trade off between the world's most powerful flashlight and run time!If at first you don't succeed: reload

Let's assume your question is about lumen output only and disregards all else then it should be very easy for us Jamies to list you the 5 highest output torches under £100.
Be interested to see the results, unfortunately I'm going to be limited with Internet access over the next few days.Frank Mclaury: You're next on my list, Holliday. You better get used to seeing my face, 'cause it's the last thing you're gonna see.
Doc Holliday: McLaury, seeing your face would be a pleasant change. I understand most of your enemies got it in the back.

This is just under £100, as is this one.
This says it's a little brighter for 60% of the price.
Just from a quick look, I don't think you'll break 1000 lumens for less than £100.
...unless you go (semi) custom - direct drive XM-L in a solarforce host.Last edited by herbicide; 12-04-12 at 02:35 PM.

Forgive my ignorance but what's the difference between a £99 flashlight with a Cree XML t6 chip in it
And the cheap one I've had off the bay for £20 with the same led

Ok, forgive my ignorance again, if you can produce a device with an XML t6 for £20 or less sale price, what's to stop you making a compact torch with 3 or 6 LEDs, as they are very small so would fit, is this a power issue, cost issue, efficiency issue etc?
